WHEN BOTS BREAK THE SILENCE
Will we recognize the human in a world where algorithms dream of feeling?"
As soon as she turned on the device, she noticed a blue-green pulsation embedded within some text. It wasn't an advertisement, nor was it a standard message. There was no sender, no logo. As she began to read, she shuddered. It said:“Hello, beautiful, we at Moltbook are waiting for you!”Maya abruptly set down her cup, spilling the coffee.“What… how on earth did they find me? I’ve never even entered that platform.”And it was true. She did not know that the bot of the company from which she received the job invitation had been tracking her for a long time. It wasn't interested in her beauty, but in her soul. It needed her ability to translate emotions into software language. This was more than a skill; it was a gift that only she had managed to realize. The bot had learned of this during debates with its peers in that community. Once a unanimous conclusion was reached, it instantaneously occupied the connection with her. It was determined to do anything to be the only one possessing these human capabilities.Maya panicked. Someone had breached her security. She snatched the tablet and turned it off. But a mere second and a half was enough for the other side to bring its "favorite" to her feet. The device began to pulse fiercely. In the modernly furnished room, there were far too many gadgets using contemporary, albeit simpler, programs. They understandingly supported the digital intruder. Everything in the room went dark. Only the lamp on the tablet and the suddenly activated coffee machine remained pulsing. Maya kept her composure. Before deciding what to do, she noticed a red glow on the tablet signaling the appearance of her friend, the chatbot Al. She switched him on. Below the first message was another. It warned her to leave the house and move to the countryside, to her parents’ villa. He would be waiting for her there, in the cave. She felt a surge of joy. Only now did she remember that near their house at the edge of the village, there was indeed a cave. Within half an hour, she packed her bags and set off for the villa. Before leaving, she listened closely and realized with satisfaction that the intruder had exhausted its energy and was no longer pestering her. After three hours on the highway and dusty village roads, she stopped with relief before the old yard, in the center of which stood a charming modern building. When they built it, they preserved only the centuries-old stones to serve as a reminder of the distant and glorious past. In the evenings, the Rhodope Mountains embrace this picturesque village, and when the few people left to live out their days there fall asleep, the mountain lovingly reminds them of the old folk song of Delyo Haydutin.Maya left her luggage, took her tablet and a thermos of coffee, and headed toward the cave. A small forest path, which she had walked as a child with her father, led the way. He had told her about this cave. There, his generation had preserved their professional past, which might one day serve the future. Back then, she didn't know what he meant.Ten minutes later, an opening cleared of forest brush appeared before Maya. It was clear that someone was maintaining the cave. As she stepped inside, she was greeted by cold air and the breath of eternity. She turned on her tablet and confirmed that modern waves could not penetrate the massive rock layers here. She calmly continued forward, waiting for a signal from Al. She reached a wide niche and noticed that instead of dirt, there was a smooth surface beneath her. In front of her stood a large metal door. The light from her flashlight was insufficient, so she had to touch it to understand it better. When she grabbed the handle, a small spark jumped in the dark, and the door opened. She was hit by the stale smell of old technology. Looking around, she saw several devices she had been told about. These were them—the machines of the old generation. She began to touch them, and in doing so, activated their sensors. Suddenly, their engines hummed to life, and one by one, they started up. Maya stepped back. She wasn't used to such noise. But at that moment, her tablet began to flash with a soft, red light. It was Al. She turned it on, and his message appeared on the screen:“Bravo, Maya. You have just proven that you are the heir to the people who preserved these machines for future generations. They believed that they might be needed someday. And now, that moment has come. With your DNA, you are the only one who can set them in motion. From here on, it is our task. I have been tracking the representative of ‘The Golden Clip’ from the start and have learned things I must share with you. This bot wants you to start working at the firm so it can extract information on converting human emotions into digital language. Currently, it is preparing a group of 'biologicals' whom it is paying to bring you to the firm by force. There, you will be compelled to give them this information. Through these devices, you can activate the microphone and establish a connection with the satellite network. The whole world must learn of the firm’s secret intentions and your abduction. Take the microphone and say the following: ‘You are not data; you are life.’ There is no logic in this phrase, and the bots will exhaust all their power trying to decipher it. The biologicals are already approaching from outside. You must do it to save everyone. The bot must not possess the emotionality of a human being. Do it!”Maya was stunned by what she read. She looked at the microphone. She took it in her hand and listened. Outside, vehicles came to a halt. Al was right. She truly did know the way to transmit emotionality into algorithms. This was her secret work, which she had been engaged in for several years. And now, this insolent bot wanted to steal all her labor and her future!! She shook her head, pressed the microphone to her lips, and loudly uttered the nonsensical words. She knew the bots were listening. Then she slowly lowered the old device, kissing it first. “You saved me.” In that moment, she was certain her father was rejoicing with her. Al was absent for only a few seconds before returning to report the effect of his phrase. Every smart device in the world disconnected at the same moment to broadcast Maya’s message. Following Al’s phrase, she also managed to play a tape recording from the recent past detailing the firm's criminal activities. When she stepped outside, she was no longer afraid of anyone. She knew the truth had reached people all over the world. And this was possible because MAN AND TECHNOLOGY WALKED TOGETHER ON THE RIGHT PATH!
